We study plant nutrition using nanotechnology

In our research group, we have a strong focus on the mobilization of plant nutrients and their subsequent uptake, translocation and functional properties in plants.

Our research objective is to provide knowledge, which can be used to increase the sustainability of agriculture, by conducting both basic and applied research to increase the ability of plants to acquire essential plant nutrients. In the recent five years, the research group has worked towards this objective through fundamental studies on how nanoparticles can be tailored to interact with plant tissue and thereby improve the uptake and assimilation of essential mineral ions. The vision is to provide the scientific basis for the next generation of massively improved fertilizers to improve nutrient use efficiency in crops for the benefit of farmers economy, environment and climate.
